Summer Hinton: has been teaching dancers of all ages in Prescott since 1994. Summer’s name is synonymous with high-quality dance classes and entertaining performances. With her contagious enthusiasm and love of dance, Miss Summer encourages and excites her students, young or old. Miss Summer's competition dances have always received very high scores including Platinums, "Judges' Favorite Awards", Top Score Awards, and Top Choreographer Awards. Miss Summer's competitive Star Company Performance groups offer dancers a chance to compete at the state and national level. However, each student, whether they come once a week for fun and exercise or are the serious everyday dancer, receives Miss Summer’s undivided attention. Involved in many of Prescott’s charities, Miss Summer believes in “giving back to the community” by years of offering her talent and time in many shows and performances. Also deeply involved in Prescott’s Unified School District, Summer has volunteered countless hours of her teaching and choreographic talents to all the schools in PUSD. A professional dancer since three weeks after she graduated from Scottsdale High School, Miss Summer was immediately hired by the Sahara Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. For the next ten years, Summer danced on TV, in Las Vegas and Reno Nevada. Summer also was able to dance in three USO tours from Korea to Japan, entertaining thousands of troops.
Russ Hausske: met Miss Summer when she invited him to teach a West Coast Swing workshop in Prescott (he is a four time national West Coast Swing Champion in three different divisions). Russ choreographs and teaches several “partner dancing” styles including Latin, Night-Club, 2-Step & Country. A West Coast Swing specialist, Russ has been taught by several World West Coast Swing Champions such as Benji Schwimmer (2006 Fox Network’s “So You Think You Can Dance” TV reality series Champion) his sister Lacey (Dancing with the Stars) and many others. Through these Champions and others, Russ’ teaching philosophy is basics, basics, basics. A recent honor came coaching a young couple from Summer's Dance Works, they won 4th place at the US Open Swing Dance Championships in the Young American Division of WCS. In addition, Russ helped them win three (3) additional first place trophies at other Swing Championships. The last competition Russ participated in was in the Master’s Division of the US Open Swing Dance Championships where he and his partner placed 6th in a very competitive field of other dancers.
Harrison Stevenson:Born in Missouri, moved to Arizona at a young age where he studied multiple styles of dance, but most intensely in classical ballet. His training credits include Arizona School for the Arts, The School of Ballet Arizona, as well as Master Ballet Academy under the direction of Slawomir and Irena Wozniak. Harrison furthered his own dance career, dancing professionally with State Street Ballet in Santa Barbara, California. There, he performed as a Soloist as well as in the Corps de Ballet. Harrison later returned to Arizona when offered the position as Artistic Director for Limitless at Master Ballet Academy, the contemporary company affiliated with the school. Harrison's students and choreography have earned top awards at Youth America Grand Prix, The Dance Awards, NYCDA, and many more. Former dancer's trained by Harrison include Avery Gay, Sophia Lucia, Madison Penney, Gisele Bethea, and Juliet Doherty to name a few.
Dusty Savage: has been dancing for 13 years and teaching for 6 years. She is trained in multiple areas of dance, from hip hop and ballet to contemporary. Her passion for dance was shown when she was on a competitive dance team, traveling to Las Vegas several times for National Championship Competitions. She is pleased to pass down her love of dance to everyone she teaches.
Jaime Hershman: has been dancing for 23 years and teaching for 12 years. She has danced in pre-professional Ballet companies and was invited by the San Diego Ballet to be a part of their company. She has done many summer intensives, including: Arizona Ballet School, Nevada Ballet Theatre, among others. At the age of 19, she attended a post-graduate program with Virginia School of the Arts. She has taught dance classes at Yavapai College, and in 2019 was certified as PBT Instructor (Progressing Ballet Technique).
Alexis Pursell: began dancing at the age of four, and her love and passion for dance continued to grow as she studied various forms throughout her childhood. Alexis was a competitive dancer and cheerleader throughout childhood and high school. After college, Alexis began coaching within the Tri-City area, sharing her love for health, fitness, and dance. She has taught Jazz, Hip-Hop, and youth Cheerleading for 7 years. With a Master’s degree in Health Education, Alexis strives to educate the community and her students on the benefits of staying healthy and active through dance.
Michele Roche: is Summer's DanceWorks office manager extraordinaire who keeps things running smoothly. A natural athlete in softball and volleyball, Michele was talked into taking a dance class over 15 years ago by Miss Summer and was soon performing and competing full time with the ladies Jazz and Tap groups.
